I heard this rumor about a month ago from the Nike dealer that supplies the team's unis(Gulf Shore in Pinellas Park).  He said it was almost a done deal, but having to wear UA shoes too was a drawback that the team didn’t like.  UA apparently wants to establish a foothold in the south.

I didn’t want to believe it when I heard it, because UA products look second rate.  It’s not about appearance though, it’s about dollars.

I prefer the UA brand over Nike.  Nike's quality control has declined signficantly over the years.

I'll take the Swoosh myself. Since we got on board with Nike, I see all kinds of cool shirts, hats, jackets, sideline polos in stores now. And I feel like a big-time program seeing our stuff right up there next to the USC's, Michigan's, Ohio State's, Florida's, Texas', Florida State's, Oklahoma's, Miami's, Penn State's, LSU's.

Its a money thing. Plain and simple. Look, I understand Under Armour is trying to establish a presence in college football. Everyone wants a piece of the pie. I don't blame them. But I don't want to be one of the guinea pigs. By the way, the uniform will be done however the school WANTS it done too. Look at Auburn. They were not going to let UA screw around with their traditional look. If USF wants to keep the same look, then that is exactly what they will get. If they want to cave to the new designs, then UA will drool at the mouth to put something together. But don't come crying to me if it ends up looking like Texas Tech's abortion.

The footwear issue is the most disturbing thing to me. I was in that industry for nearly six years and I'm not going to say the UA cleats are crap, but they are NOT at the same quality and performance of Nike or Adidas. Those companies spend millions and millions and millions of dollars in research and development. Just go to Nike.com. They have 27 different pricepoints of football cleats, 14 of which I would classify as a high end/elite level product (college/pro). There are choices designed specifically for big guys, fast guys, average guys. Every body type. That is where the R&D comes in. At UnderArmour.com they have 9 pricepoints, 4 of which I consider an elite level product (3 really, but I'm including the same shoe in a mid and a high-top).

I guess you have a choice. Be a smaller fish in the big pond, but part of the marketing and licensing juggernaut that is Nike and get your hands on the same stuff all the big programs have (remember trying to get an authentic or even replica jersey prior to the Nike days? Impossible. When USF got in bed with the Swoosh, we finally had some REAL gameday gear to wear) ... OR ... be a big fish in the little pond that is Under Armour.

I guarantee you poll those players in football, baseball and softball which gear they would rather have and it would be a landslide for Nike. The school gets rich, the coach gets rich and the players have to wear the junk. I'm sure all those schools that switched back in the day to Kangaroos, Pony (uh, Lee Rose), Puma and New Balance all to chase the almighty dollar regret putting their kids in that crap.

Just one man's opinion.

Do not change the unis, they look good as is now.  We don't need to be messing around with the uni design and come up with junk.

If USF was able to keep their uniforms the same when Nike took over, I'm sure they could do that if Under Armour took over.

I love the Auburn ones.  The Terps look good, but I feel sorry for Texas Tech.

Something just seems to scramble the brain as you go West of the Mississippi, especially with unis.!!!!

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
