After some of the upsets today, all those curmudgeons who refuse the admit that USF is actually a good team will be fresh out of excuses.  I guess UCF's almost win is not much of a moral victory anymore either.

Rutgers is down 10.  Real mixed feelings here.

With all these upsets, it may be a better chance of hitting the top 10

Week 5 -- UPDATED

1) USF's Game

FRI 09/28 - #5 West Virginia 13 (4-1, 0-1) at #18 USF 21 (4-0, 1-0)

2) Games involving one or more schools on USF's 2006 schedule.

SAT 09/29 - North Carolina 10 (1-4, 0-2) at #17 Virginia Tech 17 (4-1, 1-0)

SAT 09/29 - Akron 10 (2-3, 1-0) at #36 Connecticut 44 (5-0, 1-0)

SAT 09/29 - Florida Atlantic  17 (3-2, 2-0) at #14 Kentucky 45 (5-0, 1-0)

SAT 09/29 - Appalachian State 49 (4-1, 1-1) at Elon 32 (2-2, 0-1)

SAT 09/29 - Syracuse  14 (1-4, 1-0) at Miami, OH 17 (2-3, 1-0)

SAT 09/29 - Maryland 34 (3-2, 0-1) at #10 Rutgers 24 (3-1, 0-0)

SAT 09/29 - Louisville 29 (3-2, 0-1) at NC State 10 (1-4, 0-2)

SAT 09/29 - Louisiana-Lafayette (0-4, 0-1) at #35 UCF (3-1, 1-0) - 6:00pm

SAT 09/29 - Pittsburgh (2-2, 0-1) at #37 Virginia (3-1, 3-0) - 7:00m [ESPNU]

SAT 09/29 - Auburn (2-2, 0-1) at #4 Florida (4-0, 2-0) - 8:00pm [CBS]

SAT 09/29 - #24 Cincinnati (4-0, 0-0) at San Diego State (1-2, 0-0) - 10:00pm

3) Games involving Notre Dame because of its ties to Big East bowl games.

SAT 09/29 - Notre Dame 19 (0-5) at #26 Purdue 33 (5-0, 1-0)

NOTE: With the next three games for Notre Dame - at UCLA, vs Boston College, vs USC - chances are Notre Dame will not be bowl eligible.  Once Notre Dame is not eligible, we won't need to watch their games.

4) Games involving a team ranked higher than the 2nd highest Big East team.

If the highest and 2nd highest teams can move up and up the polls, then there is at least a chance that 2 Big East teams could make the 10 BCS slots.  Big East ranks: #5 West Virginia, #10 Rutgers

SAT 09/29 - #6 California 31 (5-0, 2-0) at #11 Oregon 24 (4-1, 1-1)

SAT 09/29 - #28 Michigan State 34 (4-1, 0-1) at #9 Wisconsin 37 (5-0, 2-0)

5) Games involving a Top 12 non-BCS team, or a Top 16 non-BCS team ranked higher than any BCS conference's highest ranked team.

If no teams from the non-BCS conferences make the BCS, then that would mean 4 at-large slots in the 5 BCS bowls.  This increases the chances for 2 Big East teams to be selected.

There are no non-BCS teams in the Top 16 of the AP poll.  Highest rated non-BCS team: #19 Hawaii

6) Other games of interest, including teams ranked near USF.

USF is #18 in the AP poll.

SAT 09/29 - Massachusetts 14 (4-1, 2-0) at#12 Boston College 24 (5-0, 3-0)

SAT 09/29 - Iowa State 17 (1-4, 0-1) at #25 Nebraska 35 (3-1, 1-0)

SAT 09/29 - #22 Alabama (3-1, 2-1) at #34 Florida State (2-1, 0-1) - 5:00pm [CBS]

SAT 09/29 - #19 Hawaii (4-0, 1-0) at Idaho (1-3, 0-0) - 5:00pm

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
