1)  Pound the rock

2)  Don't get too aggressive on defense.  Let the Dline with the occasional blitz set the pressure so the rest of the guys can ball hawk.  With fast WRs and a young QB who will take chances, we need to limit the chances for lucky big plays.

3)  BE AGGRESSIVE.  When we get the lead, don't be content to kill the clock.  Take some chances down the field with Amarri Jackson.  The dude is 6'5" and should be in single coverage if we're running the ball with any sort of success.  Time to exploit this advantage which will open things up for Hester/Johnson crossing over the middle for big plays.  We're a ranked team now with the country watching and setting the stage for next week.  

Whatever we do, DO NOT run the option over and over again to kill the clock.  It only will risk Grothe to injury and does not impress the voters.  We're going to need to have the passing game going to be a complete team to beat someone like Cincy, so this is the game we get it revved up.

I dont think this game will come down to special teams play, so the kicking is not a real big concern for me this week.

I think our defense will virtually shut down UNC's shaky O. As a result, I think we'll take advantage and play fairly conservative on offense to avoid giving WVU too much fresh tape. Lots of multi-back sets. Just pounding it away, as many have already said.

In the end, we'll beat the handily, but will hold back offensively once we're in the lead. It won't be a blowout, but we'll never be in danger of losing. Expect a repeat of the Elon game as far as score, hopefully with less mistakes.

This is an easy question. In the following order of importance:

1. Offense

2. Special Teams

3. Defense

USF has not been spectacular in any area.

The offense has not produced many sustained drives down the field where they were able to score. Remember USF was fortunate to get great field position during the Auburn game due to turnovers but they never got the ball in the endzone.  I will be checking for USF's ability to drive the ball down the field on offense while playing UNC. Whether they sustain drives by the pass or the run it really does not matter the key is to sustain drives.  

Special Teams, even though Alvarado has had a tough time kicking field goals, no further details required, his punting has been rather good.  During the Auburn game he was able to pin Auburn back inside the five yard line. The punt return and kick off return teams did well during the Auburn game and ok during the Elon game.  

The defense has played well, especially the secondary and Selvie, but they have been playing as expected for the competition they have faced so far. I would like to see more three and outs although turnovers are better.  Even though UNC does not appear to be a run oriented team this year.  Keep an eye on how much pressure comes from the middle of the defensive line.  Make a note of how many times they D-Linemen are able to shed their block and make a tackle.

1.  Don't get off to slow start after the bye week;

2.  Reduce UNC receiver's Yards After Catch (YAC) as they will dink and dunk our stingy secondary;

3.  Stay healthy.

The talent differential between the two teams should take care of the rest.

1. Run the ball; Ford needs to run and run more often. He is still getting his "college legs" under him and needs to build that stamina. The more he pounds the ground the better he will become.

2. Pass Rush; We need to pressure the QB. Our Secondary is strong and should be able to break up plays or get the INTs when needed, but it all stems on Selvie and the DL getting some pressure on the QB. We need to do this consistently in all games.

3. Limit (or eliminate) stupid penalties and mistakes. Offsides, false start & illegal formation penalties have been the most common. Personal fouls or Pass Interference don't help either ... of course some of those calls are bogus (poor officiating) but we cannot blame every call on the refs. If our guys are doing what they need to be doing the rest will take care of itself.

Oh, and CONCENTRATE ON UNC!!  If we have WVU on our mind then UNC may get away from us. We CANNOT let that happen.
