Thanks for these articles guys. They're extremely interesting (and surprisingly prophetic) to read so far after the fact. The comparison to Louisville was very, very apt on their part. Not to mention these prove how much better the Oracle used to be than it is now.

Fall of my freshman year.  I can remember reading a few of those articles, specifically the one regarding UAB "club" football.  What a long way we've come.  I am one proud alum.

It took Schnellengerger 18 years to achieve a national ranking and we accomoplished it in less than 1/2 the time - Great ole article!

Wow.  This takes me back.  I can remember reading these.  Also remember being in the Sun Belt conference and having homecoming in February during Basketball season.  We have come a long way.  What a great time to be a Bull, indeed.

I remember reading alot fo that stuff when it came out-- Tannenbaum was one of those folks along with many other students who convinced Francis Borkowski to get the ball rolling to look into football. Betty Castor took it to the house. So many people really pushed so hard for many years to make it happen. We had a float in the homecoming parade in 1988 that had  football field on it -- with real grass and goal posts. It also had greek housing and a hoops court. Funny how all those  things happened eventually. We would have killed to have games to go to back then.

Wow those are great reads!  Is there a place where I could get a good, straight scan of stuff like this so I can print it out?  I'm getting a new house, and I am doing a USF-themed Man Cave and this kind of stuff would be great!
