No joke.

Problem is, Mutt, you are "preaching to the choir" here.  Like your avatar says, anyone who participates in discussion on this site is "not your average fan."

It's the average, ho-hum fan that's walking out during the 4th quarter.

When have the srudents not shown up?  It was always packed when I attended...the past 4 yrs!

exactly...in my best Rodney Dangerfield impersonation "OUR STUDENTS GET NO RESPECT"

instead of posts about how many of our students turnout for games and make noise, we are nitpicking about them doing the wave, making noise while we are on offense, or chanting bullsh_t.

i remember games back during the 02 season were 50% of the entire crowd was sitting in the student section.

Yeah, there were games like that, but that 50% didn't add up to much.  When you have a campus with 40k students... what we are seeing now should be the norm.  It is great to see how the students are pouring in.  We could easily top 13k students at the next few games, imo.  That has never happened before, not since the first year.

If you want to talk like that then we should bring up the fact that there's thousands more alumni in the area then students.  8k-10k students is not a bad showing.  If more of the alumni in the area supported USF we'd have the upper bowl open all the time.  They're all hoping on the bandwagon though...

I do agree with the other half of your statement.  We can easily top that 13k in the next few games.

Let's go Bulls!

True, but the big majority didn't have a football team to root for when they attended and grew up fans of other teams.  The connection is not engrained like it is for us who have been here from the beginning, or those after us that have had football their entire undergraduate career.  The people NOW are the ones that are going to make the biggest impact in the future.  We can't complain about our older alums that don't have interest.  The ones that do are showing up, and the students are too.  The direction is right, and its only going to get better from here on out.

I quess you didn't attend the Pitt and Memphis games in 04' all I can say is nobody showed for the 11 a.m. kickoffs.  But since then the student turnout has been good and the Elon turnout was phenominal.

It is this simple, WIN AND THEY WILL COME (regardless of time!)  Our noon game will have a much higher turnout then any other noon game, soley because we beat Auburn last week.  In fact it would not be a noon game had we not beat auburn.  Winning on a cosistant basis is all it will take for this community to jump on the bandwagon.  It is just unbullievable that it is happening in year 11.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
