agreed.  buie was a freak at Armwood.  I've been waiting for him to hit his stride in college.  hopefully this year will be the year.

the guy who I think will come out and impress thsi season (that hasn't already) will be Jarret Buie -- he has the speed, power, size and attitude to be a great pass rusher and impact player. We have an excellent DL -- it'[s hard to find a weakness on our defense imo

Gotta agree with mike here this very well could be the best defense we have ever put on the field.  The only thing i can think of as a weak point may be the safeties but they also have so much potential its not even funny.  Hopefully that potential turns into production and we can field a top 10 defense!

yep, if he has a solid season he can be a lock for a first day pick.

run stopping DTs are very important in the NFL right now.

To me the five things that need to happen for this defense to be dominant this year.

1.  DT play- Clebert must step up and realize potential, and I'd like to see jumbo freshman McClain start to steal minutes early.

2.  Safeties need to be consistent- Allen will be calling coverages, and Verpaele was good at it last year so we need him to be spot on, Williams and Gachette need to realize potential too, both have shown more than glimpses but now we need to see consistency.

3.  A back-up DE- Robinson healthy really solves this but Woody George sliding from tackle needs to make an impact.

4.  The LB can't have a drop-off with the absence of Nicholas and St. Louis.  We need Mompremier, Spires, McKenzie, and Robinson to be as dangerous.  This crew is long on athleticism but they need to be consistent.

5.  Selvie to take the next step, and especially Buie to finally emerge.

Frankly I think we need these five things to happen to improve on defense this year.  We'll have a very good defense but it could be great if most of that list comes to fruition.  Thankfully not much is a stretch, all reports are Clebert is a beast this year and McClain is powerful and already pushing for minutes....Allen looks sharp we'll lose a bit early in the season but his athleticism will gain it back, Williams and Gachette are juniors now so you expect more consistent play, and they're bigger.  Robinson will return soon, George has been Mr. DL Utility so he knows the DE position and should at least help big on run plays.  The LB's will see a slight drop early in the season but their athleticism and size will help compensate for the loss of Snake and SL, by the end of the year this will be a dominant unit.  Selvie no worries, and the rumors are Buie's ready for a breakout.

If Clebert, and Buie breakout then this defense could be something.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
