The other observation, if we run a 2 back set, as some have indicated, it looks like Ford will be "a starter" without being named the starter. 

I'm not sure if we'll run a 2 back set.......but I know that if we did, B. Williams would be perfect lined up in front of Ford.  That guy can pick up a block out of no where and he could block a run away dump truck.

mompremier didn't get significant playing time last year. far from it. he totaled five tackles, and i'd guess at least three of those were on special teams. i'm not saying he can't be a good player and a viable starter this season; he just hasn't seen any appreciable amount of playing time at linebacker at usf.

Rezz,  I was with you all the way to the last sentence. Then you got way to far out on a limb for me.

Talent at the "skill" positions, I think, is good enough to challenge anyone in the country. Up front, even with the experience from last year, still worries me. Maybe not the starters, but the depth.

well, let me rephrase that by adding "most significant" playing time last year of any one other then Moffit on the roster.  Mompremier was the 1st backup at LB and got in there atleast 3 or 4 games i remember off hand.  i have pretty much only watched the games 1 time each and was in attendence at most of them so its hard to recall from memory.  

point is Mompremier is our most experience LB as  a USF bull with the exception of Moffit.

Its an exciting time..it truly is. Biggest thing I'm looking forward to seeing, is whether there is improvement in the ground game. If there is, we will be a factor in the B.E. title picture. With the much hyped Mike Ford, plus experience all across the line, one would certainly believe that we will be much improved on the ground. We know what Grothe can do. We know there is talent on the outside. We know the defense is tough, week in and week out. We NEED to know the ground game will be consistent and be a force, week in and week out.

T-Mac is as good as advertised, and ditto for Spires

Problem is, he isnt being advertised. Of all the "new players" coming in, I feel that he may end up being the most important addition. He not only will replace Nicholas as our "playmaker" at the LB position, but my bet is that he will be an imporvement. What do you think?

Spires pushing for a starting gig also speaks volumes for his talent....but again, no one is talking about it. How good can this guy be?
