Saw #54 quite a bit in the 2nd quarter...

He got beat badly on that 2nd Bengals TD. If you're going to bump the guy at the line, then you had better knock him off his route a bit. That was pretty much an ole by Stephen.

They were in a zone defense, he passed the TE off, but the middle defenders (MLB and SS) had shifted to cover Chad Johnson on the play.  Snake was also shifted off by Carson Palmer looking him off.  It wasn't 100% Nicholas' fault.

If I remember correctly, pass coverage was his weakest (relatively) area while at USF... and it could be what is keeping him from breaking into the starting lineup in Atlanta.

Jim is right.  The Falcons were in a zone defense.  That receiver was not Snake's responsibility.  He slowed the receiver some, but had to let him go because he was close to being too far downfield to chuck him.  It was the strong safety's responsibility.  You could see it in the SS's eyes when he got there too late.

I thought Stephen looked very good.  He moves around better than Kawicka and only once did I see Stephen get taken out of a play.  He will get major playing time with the Falcons this year.

Plus, he looked good on special teams.  He disrupted the wedge on one kickoff and I saw him make a good block on a punt return.  He has made the roster crambone.  ;D
