Yes I agree with most comments here, do not cut our throats to get the game (true enough).  However, playing Miami is good now - for many reasons.  If we start beating them early then we will gain momentum throughout the 5 years deal/season.

Just a thought.  Also, I am all for more home games but playing anywhere in Florida is almost like a home game b/c we will travel.

Games like Elon serve a purpose.  UF, FSU, UM, OSU, etc. all play tune up games.  They provide an opportunity to get the 2nd and 3rd string players some game experience.  If a team plays all top teams in the nonconference portion of the schedule, a team risks not having the depth necessary to make it through the more important conference portion of the schedule.  Also, if the 1st teamers are playing so much do they have enough to get through the more important conference schedule?  If someone goes down with an injury, when did the backup get any experience?  I say USF needs these one way games.

With that said I would welcome adding UM to the schedule as long as we move one of the other away games and get another home game to maintain at least 6 home games.  Say move the FAU game and change the date for UT-M.  This way our backups still get playing experience and we don't overplay our starters before conference play.

Wouldn't want to give up the 1-AA game in 2008 for a trip down to Miami at this point in time.   This is just my opinion, aside from the fact that it isn't up to us anyway LOL.

hahahaha

unless usf upgrades talent usf better stick with 1aa game

usf needs to play real opponents to improve team performance, fan base and recognition

We are not a big time program yet. We need balls to be a big time program... Who cares if we have seven road games. Playing Miami is about credibility. Opening with Miami with a seasoned third year QB shows that we have balls. Playing Tenn-Martin is a nice tune up... but let's be serious. Teams have lost their opener and won the National Championship. Do you want to be like UM or forever be on the outside looking in. If the scenario were possible, I don't think Leavitt would have the cajones to make it happen. Sometimes, I feel like USF football is like watching Rocky Balboa fight... Rocky didn't fight name fighters until after Mickey died. He then took on Clubber Lang, Apollo Creed (in the non-sanctioned practice fight), and then Ivan Drago. We need Mickey to die and schedule another big name. We are not far from the hump... Why get blasted for having a soft schedule like every other team... Let's beef up... take our lumps... Do people really care about Elon next week? But people do care about Auburn. Same could be said with a match-up with the U.

::)

Unless of course you count him fighting Apollo Creed in both Rocky and Rocky II and then a series of no ones once he got the belt before then losing it to CLubber Lang.

Bluto: Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Otter: Germans?

Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.

even usc play 6 road games this year

why wouldnt usf want to play miami if instead of  a 1aa game?  unless usf afraid  to lose(after all a 1aa game is a gimme)

usf is the kansas st of the south

not if it is going to be the first game of the season we seem to not play our best ball the first game.

Note: I think the Auburn game this year is toooooooooooooooo early also

well-usf needs to change that

having 16 returning starters should make that early tough opponent situation more feasible BUT I agree-- I would rather see us get a game or two under our belt to shake out the rust.

We were fortunate to have two of those games last year to get our heads together and figure out Grothe was da bomb

Why not? Our 2008 OOC schedule isn't that strong anyways.

because too many fans are like leavitt

terrified of playing a tough opponent

Nobody is scare of UM.

Just don't cut your own throat to do it.

NO to 7 away games.

If another away game could be turned into a home game, then fine, go ahead.

That is all we are saying.
