CORAL GABLES - Miami needs a new opponent for its first home game at Dolphin Stadium. North Texas pulled out of the Aug. 30, 2008, matchup. When Miami announced this week it was leaving the Orange Bowl for Dolphin Stadium, athletic director Paul Dee said the Mean Green was not expected to be the opening opponent. North Texas will open 2008 at LSU.

2008

Aug. 30 Tennessee-Martin @ Miami, FL ?

Sept.  6 at UCF

Sept. 13 Kansas

Sept. 20 at FIU

Sept. 27 at N.C. State

And have the return game after 2013 when our current series is finished.

I doubt this happens, mainly because we would lose a Home game.

Wouldn't want to give up the 1-AA game in 2008 for a trip down to Miami at this point in time.  This is just my opinion, aside from the fact that it isn't up to us anyway LOL.

Yes, we should jump at the opportunity if it comes up.  The Canes are moving to Dolphins stadium and we could take the other vacancy just created by N. Texas - the Sun Belt is wise to vacate the spot.

Obviously it would make our 2008 schedule much more difficult.  I would probably only have interest in it if we could get it as an ESPN feature game, maybe played on opening Thursday.

We lose a home game AND we lose a guaranteed win USF needs to get to bowl eligbility...

The $$ from a possible ESPN game, and the chance to enhance the rivalry with the Canes are reasons to support it...

I'm 50-50 on it... but I don't think it's a realistic option.

not if it is going to be the first game of the season we seem to not play our best ball the first game.

Note: I think the Auburn game this year is toooooooooooooooo early also

Miami officials said that they will just start dumping trash into the orange bowl creating a huge landfill, but in truth, the place has been full of

S*!T for years...    ;)

I think the 5 year contract with UM is good for now.  Re-evaluate in a few years.  Would not be thrilled with opening down in Miami.

Why not? Our 2008 OOC schedule isn't that strong anyways.
