In the "100 days to Bulls Football" countdown, TheBullsPen.com invites discussion on players wearing the numbers 99 to 1.

We're approximately 10 days until kickoff of the 2007 season.

The number 10 was and/or is worn by the following Bulls:

Chad Barnhardt...............................1997-1998

Marquel Blackwell...........................1999-2002

J.B. Garris .................................................2004

Jamaal Jenkins...........................................2005

Keeley Dorsey .........................................2006

Please post your comments, thoughts and reflections on these Bulls and help countdown the days until kickoff vs. Elon in Raymond James Stadium on September 1, 2007

Great number, Chad began as a quarterback and Marquel continued.

I actually felt bad, one of my friends that started school at USF in 2005 never got to see Marquel play in a game at USF. Those were fun, believing that he could make any play from anywhere on the field.

And Keeley, still so sad.

Did anybody ever figure out how Dorsey passed away?? I sure hope there is something planned this year in his memory... I have heard about towels, that would be pretty neat. Maybe you know Jim? Im a Jr at USF, and unfortunately never got to see Blackwell live. Would have been AMAZING!! Dare I say 2 days till #8

I think Andy describes it best when watcing MB.  You really thought he could make any play from anywhere on the field....and he really could.

To this day the best player USF has ever had.

He was in a class with me where I got caught cheating  :-[, I havent seen him in years, but everytime I do we have a laugh about it.  Real cool and down to earth guy.

The number should go unused through what would have been Keeley's senior season.

While its tragic what happened to Keeley, I don't think this is the answer.  If I'm not mistaken, he wore a few numbers during his time at USF.  You can't retire all of them for four years, its just not practical.  A KD on each helmet will suffice.

As for the number itself.  The first true superstar ever at USF wore this number.  That's right, Chad Barnhardt was the first superstar.  I remember reading about him when he decided to transfer to USF.  I knew he'd be the one to get our program off to a great start.  Then to follow him up with Marquel.  What can you say about MB?  Easily the best player to ever play at USF to this point.  Really gave us a chance to win every time we took the field.  Just a smart player with incredible athletic ability fo make plays.

It began with Chad, and that is where my allegiance is. Any guy who would transfer from D-1A South Carolina and start a program where he had no idea about the talent around him earns a special place in my heart.

As for MB, I am grateful for his talents and putting a building block of the USF program on where it is today.

MB might of been the best offensive player in USF history..

but come on, what about Ant Henry!

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
