Don't care to be the media darling... Let's run up the score vs Elon

You know what... we've played out our last five years with some big wins... Pitt, Louisville, WVU... but get over it now. Let's set the stage for Auburn. Let's put up a hundo on Elon... Let the world cry about how we had no mercy on Elon (a little piss ant squad that would get beat by our third string). Let Auburn get overconfident and talk how they would never allow that to happen to them... and then let's goto Auburn and show them we are for real. I believe in our guys... we have a team that can contend. But they need to believe in themselves. Punish Elon... and don't look back. All's I care about is establishing the stage for Auburn. From the best movie six series movie of all time... "If you're not with me, you're against me."

People wonder why the U is such a household name... because they took a chance and it paid off... same goes for Spurrier... USC will not be down forever with him at the helm. I'd rather be the bad guy (as long as Jim does it right with respect to arrests and what not).

There are pros and cons to running up the score in a game like Elon.

Pros:

High score looks good

Red zone offense gets good real-game experience

Cons:

May show plays you don't want Auburn to see and prepare for

May result in unnecessary injuries

Personally, I say that we get our first string in there for the entire first quarter, second string for second and third quarters, thrid string in for the fourth quarter.  Keep potential freshmen starters in for the entire game to get them more acclimated to the game.  If our backups can continue running the score up while playing a vanilla offense that doesn't show any of our unused gameplan off, that's great.

id rather put up 35-0 by halftime and coast in the rest of the way with backups getting good game experience and letting the young guys get some playing time.

first thing first....lets NOT do what we did against McNeese St and have it still be a game at the end of the 3rd qtr

With a returning QB, a stable of backs and a healthy offensive line, we should be up by 21 points at the end of the first quarter at the min. Remember... this is not a Rod Smith coached offense... no one knows what to expect... But the talent is there... what can Gregory do with it?

Those 2nd and 3rd stringers will probably being needed up in Auburn so it would be good if they have already seen some live game action.

No way Leavitt runs up the score that much...  I see maybe 42-3 or something along those lines... I would think 4 Field goals would do more for our confidence than a bunch of Touchdowns...  I would like to see NO STUPID PENALTIES and GOOD KICKING GAME going into Auburn.

I would be shocked to not see us put up at least 50 in a win. The 2000 team would have put 50 up on this Elon team... and that is with Marquel at the helm. We shut out Jacksonville State 40-0 to open the season. It should be a similar score... the talent difference is pretty immense with Matt having a year under his belt. This is just like Marquel's second season to be honest... except with more weapons on offense... although the D is quite similar... Ant Henry and Bernard Brown are very comparable to Jenkins and Trae Williams... if not better. The linebackers are better now... but remember Vassay and Kawika were no slouches.
