No Respect for Band

USF hasn't even played a Big East game where both bands were in the stadium. How could you possibly tell which one was better?

OK OK, first of all, what the HELL kind of video clip is that of HOT Band!!!

Let me say that I have heard recordings and watched videos of all the Big East bands and seen a few live.  HOT Band(in its current state) is NO LESS than third in the conference.  I was at Louisvillle last year and I could get out section of fans to sing #8 with better time than anything that they played.  Louisville's band was HIDEOUS, and this goon has them at #3?!?!?!

Might I add that, yes, I do have the knowledge to compare such bands.  In fact, I happen to march and play trumpet on stage with the Broadway show "Blast!".  Let me just say that HOT Band is EASILY ONE of the top 2 bands in the Big East if not #1. 

As an Alumni Trumpet Section leader of HOT Band in 02-03,  I agree that while I was in the band, we were very small and many things we played were suspect.  Not to mention, most of the band was COMPLETELY WASTED by halftime!  But HOT Band in its current state under the direction of Schnetty and D. Rob, has been taking TREMENDOUS strides over the last 2 years.  They are truly coming into their own and starting to become an imparative staple in gameday activities.

This guy is clearly smoking crack and has no clue what to look for(and/or) listen for when judging college bands.

I like it too. Especially when playing Loovul/Rutgers/other teams with red as a primary color

Sorry, also not to sound like a downer, but I agree with the ranking from what I've heard over the years (see how I resisted from using the Herd pun there, huh, yeah), albeit from a small sample size. I first heard the HOT in 2000, and, while they've gotten better, I've still not heard them be decent during that time. I know they can't compare to bands like UF or ND or Penn State because of those school's band traditions (is that even a real phrase?), but boy they're WAY behind. No cool cover versions of bad ass songs, they seem to play the wrong thing at the wrong time, etc...

I only heard once last year at the Cuse game, but it wasn't that great then. Then again that game was a wash at a certain point.

Sorry guys, but I look forward to seeing it stepped up this year.
