not to piss on Brad's parade because he knows how big of a fan I am of this site and all he has done....BUT...how many of those users have never even made 1 post?

I used this site for a long time just for news and then started posting.

Just under half, I read Fark.com everyday and have been a member for several years yet I have only made a hand full of posts on that site. Some people would just prefer to lurk and read the posts I do not think that takes away from our membership.  Sure some people may never use the site again but I would think there was a reason they would take the time to register with this site and I think that reason is they use their membership for some reason (like reading posts when we go to member only.)

I've been reading this board for years. I hadn't made any posts since the big crash until about a week ago. I couldn't get into my old e-mail and didn't want to have to give up for old date for joining.

It's not my parade, really. 

You will always have a percentage of members that join and never return, or join and never post (read only), or join and post a couple times, or join and get in a tragic blimp accident over the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day.  And that's sad.

But there will be a percentage that sticks.  In any event if that percentage is 20% or 80%, then I'd prefer that to percentage to be of 3000 members instead of 300 members.  The wider the net is cast, the more likely some will stick and engage in Bulls happenings - perhaps even bringing in additional Bulls fans to the community, to the games, the Bulls Club, the Alumni Association, etc.

All in all the more Bulls fans identifying with each other the better.  I don't compete with other sites as to who has more numbers.  I don't get paid per member.  I don't even get a gold star at the end of the day.  I just enjoy seeing us grow the online community of Bulls in any shape or form.  The fact that we continue to grow must be a good sign for the Bulls.

So, if someone joins and visits once a month (never posting) they're in contact with others talking Bull.  That's good.  We have members of varying levels of participation.  Counting membership is just to encourage others to get involved.  That's all.
