Exactly, many friends of mine just graduated and they ALL bought season tickets.  It will take time but we WILL gain season ticket holders each year.  The Alumni now are much more passionate about sports than EVER BEFORE!  Each graduating class we have, will draw more and more season ticket-holders.  I assure you...

Regardless of the schedule, season tickets will only grow in my opinion.

GO BULLS!!!

Brett posted on his blog doesn't seem like much of a difference from a couple of weeks ago.

Only halfway through what is traditionally the University of South Florida’s best-selling month, the school has exceeded 18,400 season tickets.

“What’s encouraging is we had a good June and a good July and August is always the best month,†USF assistant AD Jim Louk said.

With still more than two weeks from the season opener against Elon and then a three-week gap between Elon and the next home game with North Carolina, Louk said reaching the 19,000 mark “is reasonable.â€Â

The 18,400 mark ranks as the second most in school history, behind only the inaugural season when USF sold 20,619 season tickets.

Any thoughts

I still can't understand how more season tickets were sold during the inaugural season.  I would think the program has exceeded everyone's expectations (with the exception of CJL).  This really bothers me.  I just don't understand the rationale behind the season ticket holders from season #1 (not including those still purchasing tickets or those who have relocated (far away) making attendance difficult.)

Don't offer any excuses they will not be accepted.

Sorry for the excuses, but here is my guess:

Ticket prices were a lot lower, no Bulls Club contribution needed  (I wasn't a STH, so I don't know for sure), and everyone loves something new?

There were contributions required for preferred seating just as there is today.

Tickets were indeed a lot lower - $12 as I recall for good seats.

I think the novelty of "newness" was the biggest factor.  You know, the first ever Devil Rays game was a sellout (I went to that for the novelty of it).  I'd guess they've had very few since.

The novelty of "being there" doesn't carry well as you build a program through the DI-AA and non-conference era, but I will say, those that chose not to follow this program year-in and year-out missed out on a lot of cool stuff including the novelty itself of being a true Bulls fan from the very beginning.  Many will come back and new fans will appear if and when we are ranked and contending for a BCS bowl/championship.  The bandwagon will be overflowing.

I know what it will take but it's really pathetic given the # of people living in the Bay area and that approximately 90,000 are reported to be USF alumni.
