just to clarify--- USF has done something amazing since inception-- it has been a great success. We are creeping our way into the respect column across the country.

Certain people will never give us any credit or barely acknowledge our existence simply because they have been trained to think that way all their life.

Why even bother getting upset about this jerk!  Where tradition is concerned, it comes over time.  Tradition doesn't win games, the play on the field is what counts.  In the few years that USF's football program has been in existence it has grown by leaps and bounds.  We have a great athletic facility.  May just regurgitates what he has been told.

We are getting more notice each season.  If this is the break out year we hope (expect), the respect will come.  I am more concerned about what happens on the field than what is said on ESPN or anywhere else.

Leavitt and company have been awesome.  The facts are simple.  Win the games we are expected to, break out with at least one or two wins we aren't and more importantly, don't lose those games we are expected to win.

I guarantee you that when I was 11 I could out drink your average adault. :drinkup

What's the big deal? It's true.

You all think that because we went 9-4 and won a bowl game that we can compete on a consitent basis with teams that have won multiple national championships each.

Be greatful we were mentioned again and not by some USF homer in Tampa, but by some dude in North Carolina.

11 years old and you all wanna drink with the adults.

While I don't think USF has earned it's place among the Big 3 yet, that day is coming soon.  USF Football has only existed for 10 years!  And I'd make an arguement that USF is building a tradition - winning.  Only 1 year in its history below .500.  That ain't bad starting from nothing.

A couple more 'upsets' and USF will earn respect on a national level.

Since we ARE competitive within the Big East, having beaten the past two conference champs in the past two years, wouldn't that imply he does not believe any of the teams in the Big East could compete with UF, FSU, and UM?

No, only bc, many people still believe that to be a fluke. Things may have been different if we would have beaten Rutgers at home...but like they said, until we get consistent, all of our big wins will be flukes...

After hearing his response I would like to have made a follow up question:

Ever?

Little follow up to my previous post.  This mornings St Pete Times gives UF 7/8 of a page and the other 3 (FSU, UM, USF) the other 1/8 of the page to share evenly.

Of course, UCF go no love >:D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Louisville crush Miami last season.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
