Adam from Charleston, SC writes: "Can South Florida compete with Miami, FSU, and Florida?"

Mark May answered: "No, Wendy. Not on a consistent basis. They're a great football team. Jim Leavitt's done a tremendous job of getting talent there.  Coaching that talent.  Getting that talent to games so that they can win.  Not only that, but to Bowl games.  But, on a consistent basis, it's gonna be difficult to compete with the Miamis, the Floridas, the Florida States.  They have better facilities. They have better tradition and a better history."

Mark May is officially on my **** list.

When is the last time "tradition" suited up in a game.  I'm sick of people using tradition as an excuse. We've done things in our 10 years that no one else has done despite lacking "tradition".

I would bet that Mark May hasn't ever been to Tampa, let alone on the USF campus. He has NO idea what facilities we have. Our athletic center is basically brand spanking new. I am a big proponent of an OCS, but when CJL said that RAYJAY is our biggest recruiting tool, then that's good enough for me. Mark May can bite the big one. We just need to win on the field, and take care of business. He will be one of the people eatinghis words come November. I am so peeved. UGH!!!!!

Me either, that's something I look forward to every day, I get home before the wife, and watch CFL on DVR, but NOOO, now Mark(I have flipping clue what I am talking about) May has to go and ruin it. We will have 2 opportunities to prove him wrong in 2010, and 2011, at the goater home field.

Another thing, did FSU have tradition before Bowden got there? Did uf have tradition (other than cheating in the 80's) unitl Spurrier got there? NO. The more we win, the more we will be able to recruit against the big boys, and sometimes you find someone too short that is a GREAT QB. Ask FSU if they would rather have Grothe than ANY of their QB's.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
