Will we have 30K plus at the Opener ?

I don't know about 30,000 on Labor Day weekend to see the mighty, mighty Phoenix of Elon...

18,300+ Season ticket holders

5,000+ students

3,000+ walkups

500+ visting fans

is only ~27,000...

We currently have 18,300 season ticket holders which doesn't mean 18,300 butts-in-seats. I find it doubtful to see 5000+ in the student section. My guess...

15,000+ from the season ticket holder crowd

4,000+ students

3,000+ walk-ups

500+ visiting fans

~22,500 actuall attendance.

They should come to see the Bulls regardless of who they're playing.  It's sad to realize how the community isn't embracing the Bulls as evidenced by the low season tickets sales in spite of the Bulls' successes at unprecedented speed.

ok...so what was our opener attendance for last year.  I say gauge it off of the spring game.  there were more people at this years spring game than ever before, right?  Well...by proportion, this years opening attendance should be the same proportions to last years that this years spring game was to last years...anyone follow me?  Or am I off my rocker?

30K attainable, yes... sustainable, well maybe for about the first 1/2 of the game... hopefully by then it's a blowout.  I'll stay for all 4 quarters! 

With all of the buzz heading into the season and all the new bumper stickers and license plates I've noticed on the road, it seems like a good sign.

I looked it up.  We had over 26,000 against Mcneese State last year.  My intial thought was we wouldn't be over 30,000, but if we drew 26,000 for Mcneese, with the higher expectations this year, the excitement of Ford plus the noteriety of Grothe and the general buzz of entire program, I think there may be a pretty good chance of going over 30K.

If we scheduled a better home opener than Elon on Labor day weekend maybe we would get more.  Elon isnt going to draw the casual fans and new students who dont yet have bulls fever away from the beach and bbq's.

actually, I stayed on campus this summer for classes and all the new freshmen Ive met keep saying they can't wait for football season. I dont know if that means anything, but i really hope they all really show up for the first game.
