It better be...and we'd better sell more than UCiF.

I don't want their new erector set to give them an edge with ticket sales...even though it probably has already.

GO BULLS!!!

Their new stadium has given them a nice selling tool.  They've also done a nice job marketing it, and with their ticket selling strategy to boost sales. Just two years ago when they announced the stadium their ticket sales were under 10k, now they'll probably be over 23k, an all-time high for them.

Hey USF knows about euphoric selling.  I believe season ticket sales for our first two years of football were well north of 25k before the totals started sliding as the euphoria wore off and reality set in.  The hard job isn't selling tickets when you've got a great marketable selling tool like a new stadium or new football team, the hard job is sustaining those totals.  I am impressed with where we're at, if we can come close to approaching 19k this season that will be enormous.  Our largest total since the first two years, and it's been a slow rebuild so you know those are all honest to goodness fans not casual interest people.  Another good season, and we could see those ticket totals start to soar.

It seems that USF and UCF have both adopted the "Build It And They Will Come" mentality.

Except USF is building a Top 25 football team, not an erector set.

Anyone can build a stadium in 2 years.  It's much harder to build a competitive football team that can knock off the big boys on any given Sunday.  Hell, that other school's had 27 years to try and build that and they've failed miserably.

It's not really fair to blame UCF for having to abandon their stadium and build on campus.  Obviously they would have preferred a longer-term build out for a stadium, but when the Citrus Commission announced it was closing down to renovate, the Knights were forced to do something quicker than they wanted.

Moreover, USF is in position precisely because UCF made so many mistakes in the 1980s and earl 1990s.  Heck, I know conversations took place between the schools well before the program was even approved, much less started.  Starting a top level football program is not easy -- and if it weren't for the ability of USF to watch how UCF (and UAB and a few other schools) did it, we would not be talking about BCS today.

I dislike UCF as much as the next guy, but we have to realize how different the situations are... and not blame them for past mistakes or circumstances beyond their control.

This season will be big crowds because of the teams coming in WVA, Louisville, and NC.  Oh, and UCF.

I'll be happy when we have big crowds to see their BULLS, not just a team were playing.
