one of my favorite big hits (in terms of importance) was last year when Verpaele hit Slaton at the goal line.

I was just thinking the same thing myself

Julmiste running over the ECU linebacker a few years ago was incredible.  The person with the ball is supposed to be the one getting rocked, not the tackler!

That Jenkins hit on Drew Hixon hit was ridiculous. As soon as you saw it....you knew the kid was injured.

Drew Hixon from TTU.. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/25/AR2006102501523.html

Against high ranked Oklahoma, K. Mitchell stopped Griffen at the goalline as we limited them 45 yards total rushing!

The block that Ben Williams threw in the Pizza Bowl, on an Ean Randolph run.

I was thinking the Verpaele hit on Slaton myself. Followed by the Gachette hit on Pinckney and the Williams block on whoever it was that he decleated.

I'm not really a big fan of the Camon hit mainly cuz I feel like he didn't have to go headfirst at him like he did when the kid was already going down

Kawika Mitchell near the goal line against the Sooners.  Its on the 10 year DVD and that is clearly the hardest hit of any.  There is also another one from Jay Mize, but I'd have to rank that one at #2 since the receiver had already dropped the ball prior to the hit.

E.T. do you remember that hit Patrick St. Louis put on the cadet at Army in what his freshman year?  It was on a kickoff  return I believe - just nailed the guy.  Made me cringe.  That was big in terms of power and force, but one of my favorite big hits (in terms of importance) was last year when Verpaele hit Slaton at the goal line.

I remember that hit very well.  It absolutely was his freshman year on a kickoff.  We were in about third row and it was fairly close to the goal line on the USF side of the field, almost right in front of the USF fan section.  Was huge and a loud crunch.

I can't remember who threw it, but the one that stands out most to me is a block on a punt return in the '02 opener against FAU. I believe it was a linebacker who threw the block on the punter and almost completely flipped him over.

I don't know how many of you go that far back but Tchecoy Blounts hit on the James Madison QB when we lost that game to them up in JMU 13-3...He played possessed and had a blind sided sack where he seemed to launch himself in the air many feet before he hits the QB, hitting him with complete force in the small of the back, jarring the ball loose and the QB left the game.  It was vicious, and sweet possibly the perfect sack.
