USF Softball Announces Schedule For The 2008 Season

TAMPA, Fla. (July 20, 2007) – Head coach Ken Eriksen and the University of South Florida softball team unveiled their schedule for the 2008 season Friday.

The Bulls will host a total of six tournaments, two of which will be held at the EC Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla. USF will also participate in one away tournament, traveling to Tucson, Ariz., Feb. 28-March 2 to play against the 2007 Women’s College World Series Champion Arizona at its home field, along with other teams.

The season opens at home for the Bulls when they host the Best Western Tournament Feb. 8-10, and they will continue the homestand at the USF Softball Field until traveling to Arizona.

After tournament play is concluded, USF will face seven NCAA Tournament opponents from a year ago, including two that finished the season ranked in the top-25. The non-conference postseason teams the Bulls will face are Massachusetts on March 18 at home, Canisius on March 21 at DeLand, Fla., No. 14/15 Florida in Gainesville on April 2 and Stetson at home on April 16.

The Bulls will have a favorable home league slate, playing seven conference opponents at the USF Softball Field, while taking on only four on the road.  BIG EAST action opens up at home for USF when it faces St. John’s on March 28 and Seton Hall on March 30.

USF will have a stretch of three-straight doubleheaders against the BIG EAST’s top teams in Tampa. The Bulls welcome Women’s College Series participant DePaul on April 18 and NCAA Tournament team Notre Dame on April 20. The Bulls will close out the home schedule playing league champion and NCAA participant Louisville on April 26.

The regular season will come to an end on the road for USF when it travels to Providence and Connecticut May 3-4.

The BIG EAST Championship will be held May 8-10 at Ulmer Stadium in Louisville, Ky.

Times for all games and tournament opponents will be announced at a later date

How is it that a 2008 Softball schedule beginning next February is finalized before the 2007 Men's and Women's Basketball schedules that start in November??

Hopefully USF will get to face Arizona's picter, Taryne Mowatt. She was spectacular in the womens' CWS this past year, so I want USF to face one of the best to see if they can win. Also, she is pretty **** good looking too which I am sure the Sheriff would love to talk some smack to her.  ;D

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
