The Bulls are on the rise and serious challengers for Big East supremacy.

If the running game emerges, the Grothe-led offense will be significantly better. The defense should hold its ground.

The schedule is favorable. South Florida gets West Virginia and Louisville at home.

When Leavitt accepted the job in 1995, assuming the daunting task of building a program from the ground up, he dreamed of the day when South Florida could include itself in the conversation with Gators, Seminoles and Hurricanes. The day has arrived  and the Big East is officially on notice.

My neighbors are FSU and UF fans and when I talk to them they always say, yeah USF is on the rise "it is a nice little program".   UF fans think that they will teach us a big lesson when we go to the swamp in 2010.

Why should they? We were dancing around celebrating an 9-4 season while coaches were getting fired at those schools for similar records. Anything less than a conference championship (and even that is questionable) is a down year for them

The general pereception I get from the UF side (my WHOLE family is Gators) is that they like USF and think it has potential, but isn't there yet.

I know USF will prove everyone wrong one day, for now I'm gonna celebrate my 9-4 season and worry about FSU and UF when it comes time to play them.
