Fetcho Earns GCAA Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar Award

TAMPA, Fla. (July 13, 2007) – University of South Florida senior Justin Fetcho has been honored as a 2007 Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, awarded by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Fetcho was one of 101 NCAA Division I men’s golfers to earn the distinction.

Fetcho was one of only three players from the BIG EAST to be honored with the national award. Joining the Bull from Eldorado, Ill., were Matthew Busa of Georgetown and Kyle Morris from Seton Hall.

In his senior season, Fetcho, an elementary education major, won the Sam Hall Invitational in October and had four top 10 finishes throughout the fall 2006 season.

In the spring of 2007, Fetcho registered a 74.0 strokes per round average, the lowest on the USF squad. His best finish this spring was a tie for 14th at Carter Plantation in Springfield, La., where he led the team with a 220. In the next tournament, the USA Spring Classic, Fetcho again paced the Bulls, this time carding season-lows with a second round 69 and a 216 tournament total.

To be nominated for the GCAA award, a player must post both a 3.2 minimum grade point average and a stroke average of less than 76.0.
