USF isn't gonna start selling tickets to students for a while, as Business 101 tips have indicated.

We'll most likely have to have our own stadium first, and worry about filling in those other seats in ray jay with more alumnists and locals.

In the mean time, one more season of getting in for free.

NEVER - the students are the "life blood" at the games.  When in college - we all were there - it was nice to get a free entry with a student I.D.

Keep them free "willy" for as long as possible.  Remember with the stands full TV will ensure....

Student tickets should always be free.

I remember when we first got football that Lee Roy Selmon was qouted as saying tickets will always be free for students to athletic events.  I feel that this should always be the case as well.  One, they are already paying though fees. Two, a lot of students won't come if they have to pay.  Can't hook someone that could become a future season ticket holder if they don't come to the games.

I wouldn't mind seeing a student season ticket section, were those that pay are guaranteed seats in the better locations.  For example, at basketball games let students buy season tickets in the lower court sections and leave the upper level behind the baskets free.  Same for football, once we open the upper decks for good, make the endzone season tickets and have the third level free.

USF makes a heck of a lot more money off students than $5 per ticket.

The reason tickets are free is because USF students - ALL USF students - pay a hefty Athletic Fee:

Tampa campus: $10.16 per hour plus $10 flat fee per semester

All other campuses: $5 flat fee per semester

So, if a full-time student at the main campus will pay $436.40 per year for 40 credits.  That's almost as much as buying a season ticket for every USF sport.

So Jim, How many students take 40 credits a year???? 120/ 40 = 3 years... Wow, doesn't seem all to likely. Lets see it takes an avg USF student 6 years to graduate with a 4 yr degree. Why don't you be more reasonable with your examples. At least make them plausible. I am not saying it cannot be done. However, why not go for the money shot and see how much 50 credits would be.

Paul - The State of Florida considers 40 credits a "Full Term Equivalent" load.  This is how universities are funded - based on their number of FTE's not their number of students.  40 Credits is 15 in the fall, 15 in the Spring and 10 in the summer.

And since I said "a full-time student", I used the official definition used by the State of Florida for state universities.

Yes, it is unrealistic, and yes very few USF students take that much of a full load.

But I wasn't just grabbing #s out of the air.

So,

I say never, what I would do is open both end-zones up to students.  For three main reasons...

1. Currently the present student section gets a little crowded.

2. If and when we do go into overtime games there will be no advantage for the visiting team from picking one side or the other.

3. Money, students drink so much beer during the games it is absolutely no reason to charge them for tickets.

1) Our student sections have never been filled

2) I agree

3) We get 0% of the revenue from beer, food etc sold in the stadium

Student second is full except one seat.... one kid values (i.e. willing to pay) that seat at $50. Another kid values it at $0. How much is that seat worth? How much should the University sell the ticket for? Does your answer make any sense?
