L.P.: Well, I think Daniel Thomas will be back. He didn't pitch much last year and he still has to get healthy so we're going to have him back. As far as Walter goes, I think he'll sign (with the Cleveland Indians). It's my personal opinion that he will sign and it's probably a good thing for him to go ahead and start his professional career. But, if not, it's just another good player that we'll have so I've just got to sit back and wait to see, but we're prepared for life after Walter if it turns out that he's not coming back.

The Oracle link above goes to the story quoted where Lelo talks a little more about the roster changes and recruiting this years upcoming senior high schoolers for the 08-09 Bulls season.

I think many thought Diaz would stick around.

I heard through the grapevine that Coach Prado and Tino went on a family trip to Spain with a local high roller businessman.  This person is apparently going to be one of the financeers of the baseball stadium down the road.  And it sounds like that road isn't as long as some suspect.

Tough news about Diaz, but after watching UL in the World Series, I have no doubt that CLP will take USF to the next level and be a major player in College Baseball for years to come.

This I believe too. The only problem with Prado's recruits is that they get drafted (to my Mariners!!).

If they could just stick around for few seasons........Oh, and we need some big power hitters and big lefties.

JoeB, care to ellaborate on the "And it sounds like that road isn't as long as some suspect." statement? How long do some suspect 10 years? 4 years? I get annoyed when people leave teasers, unless that is simply all they know.

I think the general consensus is between 5 and 7 years for the baseball stadium.  I've heard it will be less than that.

I thought softball was already taken care of.

I would almost bet money that Lelo will have a new stadium built before 5 years from now. Just from interviews he did when first getting to USF, he wasn't very pleased with the current facilities. What last year's team did to make the stadium more attractive was nice, but not what Lelo really wants.

Richard Gonzmart is the one that put the trip on.  He does it twice a year and his summer trip he auctions off at the Bull's Auction.  I heard Prado and Tino were going, but remember Prado, Richard, and Tino are all part of the South Tampa Latin connection that will return Bulls baseball to glory.  A proverbial "Who's Who" of the ST connection.  Hopefully, they're taking a big potential booster that's ready to foot the stadium bill.  Although Richard certainly could probably do it too.

Gonzmart does a lot for USF Athletics, we need more like him.

You are right Mike.  I believe though with Prado, and Martinez they will help Richard invigorate that South and East Tampa crowds to start having a greater interest in USF not only in baseball but all athletics.  It does take time.  The last two years Richard's donated trip has grossed the University $25k, and $17k.  It's an amazing trip and worth it to the donor and USF gets the dollars.

Everyone should eat at Columbia Restaurants to show your appreciation.  Besides it's good food, and great Sangria.
