Meh...I really don't think this is that big of a deal. I know its a pretty nice honor, but there 64 other guys on this list.

No big deal?? How can you even say something like that?  This is big in many different ways and if you have been a bullliever since day 1 back in 1996, you would know how big an honor this is.  For one, it means USF is now recruiting the type of player that can perform well enough on the field to be included on lists like this.  For another it means the national scene is realizing USF is a team to respect and has players that are among the best in the country.

Sure there are 64 players on the list, that doesn't diminish the honor in the slightest.  There are close to 3,000 starting players in Division 1 football, which means 2,936 of them didn't make this list.  To have one of that did, is a major accomplishment, one all of Bullnation should be proud of.  Just like MB helped bring us to one level, MG is going to help bring us to the next.

GO BULLS!

Does anyone know what kind of recruit grothe was? i.e was he a two star, or a walk-on, etc.?  Did we beat out any other big name schools for him?  I'm trying to think back and I just don't remember hearing that much about recruiting him.

Scout had Matt as a 2 star, Rivals had him as a 3 star.

He came in second in the Mr. Florida race and should have been a 4 start (IMO).

He had some run from the big schools, but most wanted him to change position if I remember correctly. I think a lot of his star ranking was lost because of his height, it is a factor they use when determining such grades.

Also he committed early to USF and stuck with it which in the past has caused stars to disappear from players rankings.

I have the list. There are 10 sophomores, include Grothe and Florida's Tim Tebow.

That's not bad company, and who knows, the sophomores on this list may turn into the seniors on a Heisman watch list in a couple of years.

Tim Tebow making this list is a mockery... He hasn't started a college football game, yet he is being hyped like he did something special last season. He will flounder like a fish out of water... Congrats Matt... too bad the list includes less worthy individuals that didn't have a quarter of the season that you did!

Well the people that put Matt on the list think more highly of of Tebow than you do.  WTF does starting have to do with game performance?  If I'm not mistaken Tebow was a true freshman last year, and he to contributed to the  the National Championship team, how many games did Grothe start or play in in his true freshman year?  Take off the green goggles, it's freakin watch list.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
