I hope that gregory doesn't run QB draws as much though.  If grothe runs, it should be when there is no one open or when the pocket closes in.  I mean, Grothe can get yardage on the draws but he also got injured several times last year.  That can't happen this year.

Maybe option plays would be good because he wouldn't be running right into the defense.

I don't think so, we did run this quite a bit in 2006 - although he was a Top threat running for us.

2007 will have 2 very good FR RB's along with Williams and hopefully a healthy Plancher.

Though we MIGHT have  astron rushing presence this year, I would still like to see a good number of the QB read option play. I love the hell out of that play.  One of the reasons I like WVU (when they're not playing USF) so much.

GrothE can scramble and we should runs few of the GrothE scramble plays to keep the Defenses guessing.  If they don't know who's getting the ball on rushing downs, t hen that's a major advantage USF can and should exploit.

At the same time, since we have the RB potential  we should definately keep those guys at the top of the rushing list this year.

I think a lot of people don't realize that although some of the running backs weren't very good last year, the offensive line wasn't exactly opening any  holes for them. Our O-line was flat out terrible for run blocking, they were mediocre at pass blocking. I know all of them return, so hopefully they can build upon that and become better. I think we will go as far as our O-line takes us.

I sure hope we have a 1000 yard rusher.  The talent in the backfield looks like it's ready to go, and without Rod Smith to panic and abandon the run we should see a overall improvement out of the backfield.  Seriously we had a decent O-line and Rod made them look terrible with his playcalling. 

I am surprised that we won as many games as we did with the predictability of our offensive playcalling.  It felt like I was reading a script before each snap...  I wonder if Rod un-officially lost his job as playcaller for the last two games after the fiasco at Louisville (and the similar screw up at Cincinnatti). 

We had 3 RB's with over a 5 yard per carry average in the spring game.  Hopefully that will carry into the season.
