Good News on the QB Scene

Hopefullly, we are still able to redshirt him this year.  Gregory seems to be the best number two guy we have had in a while.  Although in a bad situation it is nice having a talented guy in the wings.

i wasnt impressed with gregory at the spring game.. i hope he stays as our backup and never sees the field.  hopefully, voss can beat him out

If you were not happy with Gregory, you must not have been happy with the entire position's play. I think Gregory did well. He was a true QB through HS and was recruited as a QB in college. I am sure we'll see him in week 1 and most likely a couple other games in reserve. That will be a true test of his talents in a real game to judge.

Back to Voss, I am sure he'll RS, unless he wants to move to Safety . . . we could see him in Dime Packages and Kick-Off Coverage possibly.

I've watched Gregory practice several times, and if Grothe goes down we're in serious trouble. Gregory definitely has the physical tools to be a great QB, nice size, speed and good arm strength (a lot stronger than Grothe's) but his mechanics aren't very good.

His throwing motion is not fluid, he looks like a robot. He kind of cocks his arm back and any good defense could sniff him out all day.

If he was our starter, it would be Interceptions galore. It takes him quite a bit of time to release the ball as well, he definitely needs to work on his Fundamentals.

Gregory should see the field for some mop up duty in the first game, so we should get a first hand look at his level of skill fairly early.
