Time for an Attendance Thread.

I'm not counting on us beating AU, but I am expecting a good close game.

We should avg 40-42K, imo, this year without a problem.  We averaged 39K 2 years ago, with basically an identical schedule and a much worse team, so I think it is very safe to say we will avg 40K plus over the year.  UCF, WVU, and UL could all approach 45K (or more, if we beat AU)

How many people do you know went to USF but support other schools?  The reason for this is because when I went USF did not have a well developed campus activity system.  So, it was hard to get behind USF.  I feel that is still the feeling throughout the Tampabay area.

Since we have so many attendance questions and threads I decided to do a little research and here is what I found out.

In 1977 FSU's Doak Campbell stadium held 40,500

In 1976 in a 5-6 season FSU avgd 29,135 fans

1977 in a 10-2 season they drew 39,401

1979 stadium expanded and in an 11-1 season drew 47,872.

Now realize that FSU started playing football in 1947 so 30 years later they drew 39,000 fans.

Now obviously there has been a population increase in Florida but also there were no major sports teams to compete against and no cable TV etc.

So when we compare our numbers in 10 years of football we dont lok too bad, they will continue to grow as we win and establish an alumni base used to going to games

Yep, West Virginia was #37 and no less than Ohio State was #38.

I keep hearing that the season ticket sales are higher than expected (and I noticed a lot fewer open seat tags at the spring game).  Have any actual numbers come out of the athletics office?  What kind of increase are they seeing?  Is in in the 1000's or 10,000's?  That may say more than anything.  

If (and it's a BIG IF) USF wins it's first 4 games, they will be ranked in the top 15.  IF that's the case, I don't see us getting any less than 50K for UCF (which I'm sure they'll try to take credit for).

Nothing official, but would say about 2-3K increase from last year.
