Verpaele is not academics and his experience and smarts will be missed. Very unfortunate.

Ok so what is it?  He is roomies with the Diaz kid on the baseball team so i wouldnt be surprised if it was an off the field out of the classroom issue, but can we get an answer?

I agree wth bullsgobowling and we have some really talented safeties and verpaele hasnt lived up to the hype since the injury but losing him will not benefit us in anyway.  Shocking and Im assuming it was something stupid or pretty bad to have a kid whose bloodline has defined the beginning history of usf football become ineligible.   :o :-/

What else can be said Danny will be missed, but one thing is for sure we have been building some of the best Defenses in BE and maybe even the NCAA for some time, so Coach will have someone who will step up, and we will see more and more strong recruiting for our D.

Glover is being short sighted I think, on the other hand if a guy looks in the mirror and cannot see the man who can rise up and take what he wants then have fun on the other side of the field.

Let's not kid ourselves and say that losing a kid who was a Freshman All American won't hurt us in some way.

We'll be fine for '07, but I hope Leavitt is stocking the barn with horses for the upcoming few years after that.

these losses will have a limited effect only for '07 maybe...after that, we will remember them just as we remember Chad Simpson, Antonio Searcy,Ramone McCullough,Ronnie McCullough,Josh Balloon and so on...

Verpaele . . .

2004 True FR

2005 Used Medical RS (Injured - out for season)

2006 SO

2007 JR - Suspended

2008 SR - SO, I am correct in assuming that he could not get a 6th year.

Gachette and Allen will need to step up. I feel good with them two, but Verpaele will seriously be missed.

Go BULLs !!!

At this point, losing Ponton is the biggest loss.  Other than Ben Williams, we don't have a RB with any playing experience.  That's not making me feel real confident. You can say what you want about Ford's potential, but if he gets hurt, even for a few games, not having a proven running back is a deep cause for concern.  Williams is not a difference making RB.

Anyone know if they are talking to any JUCO trnasfers at either RB or a backup QB?

One thing about the roster.  Even though we have lost a few players over the last couple of years (as do all schools), we still are getting better but are still really young.  On offense, the only starting SRs are Walker and Jackson.  We are still pretty young on D also.  We are looking real strong for this year, but even stronger and more experienced for the next few years as well.

I was shocked about the loss of Verpaele.  Josh Julmiste I believe is one loss to the team this year which might hurt us a bit.  He is at BCC and his ability to play this year is still in question.  His academic status is questionable.

I don't think Ponton has performed to the top of his ability, and we are pretty deep at the position.  With Plancher back, Ben Williams, Mike Ford, Austin Samuels, etc. we are pretty deep there.

Our main concern has to be at kicker/punter and special teams.  The O-Line and D-Line seem to be in good shape.

The problem I see at RB is that are unproven bodies back there.  It alwaystakes even the most talented players to get adjusted to game speed at this level.  You never know how any player will react with an important game on the line.  It's more than just being bigger and better athletes.  Obviously the coaches know more than us, but I'm concerned about the RB position.  From what we know, we are just about one or two plays away from being in the same, if not a worse offensive situation than last year.
