Just heard Ricky Ponton was granted a release from the team.

Does anyone have any other info on this.........??

Brett's Blog has minimal info concerning this, along with disappointing info on Danny Verpale.

I heard it on 1010AM.  Jim Lighthall broke the news and all I caught was the part about Ricky.

4 in one day this time. But to be fair, we've had 10 page threads on why Benzer was still on the team, and people have been predicting Ponton leaving since his suspension last year. So I'm not shocked by those. I'm guessing it has to be academics on Verpale.

Ponton has to go down as one of the biggest disappointments in the short history of USF football.  Verpaele was overrated in my book, but it hurts in terms of the depth of the position.  We should be OK though.

I put him right up there with Shaq Dawson - the reason I stopped following recruiting.  It all matters what they do and what happens when they get here.  Ponton is a shame.

Ricky's request to leave just tells you how deep we are at running back. Dude wouldn't be able to see the light of day. I guess he's off to B-CC as well. Pearl River is to USF what USF is to B-CC....a pipeline.
