usf needs to start scheduling top national teams

...

Guess you haven't seen last years or this years schedule  ::)

Our schedule would have to be a Top 25 in SOS. Four Top 25 teams.

The buyout with UF is only $50K ... I want to play them, hopefully in 2010. If we win(which I expect) definately want to cancel the 2nd game.

50k? Not sure about that. If it were that low we'd just have bought the game out by now.

$50K might be right, since the original UF-USF deal was agreed upon years ago.

I could care less if we ever play UF.  Foley refuses to schedule a game in Tampa.  This deal was signed when we had very little bargaining power.

I like how UM is man enough to travel to Tampa, but that is typical of UM.  UM has never shied away from traveling on the road.  Their less that stellar home attendance for non FSU, UF or VT games is probably a factor in that, but give UM props for never saying "never in Tampa" like Foley.

I have said it on many occasions in the past, but the program that we should model ourselves after in this state is UM.  We are both in huge metro areas that have to compete with multiple professional teams as well as alumni from other in-state schools.  We have the advantage of a large alumni base because we are as state school, while UM is a small private school.  UM recruits everywhere and never settles for just "cast offs" of other Florida schools, which was suggested by UF & FSU fans when USF started their program.  UM usually dominates in recruiting in their part of Florida, and USF should aspire to dominate in recruiting in the Florida Gulf Coast area.  UM has won multiple NC, and USF should aspire to the same lofty goals.  The one thing we need to do better than UM is to put more butts in the seats, and that should not be a problem as long as we keep winning.

Another thing, UM keeps reloading no matter who coaches that team.  I know it is heresy to speak of CJL leaving, but if CJL ever leaves or retires, then USF should just reload and keep going like UM.  UF has had moderate success with that, and who knows about FSU?  I predict that they will be in big trouble when St. Bobby steps down, unless he decides to coach until he has a heart attack on the field and they bury him in the end zone.

OH yes, model ourselves after, thugs, criminals, & plyer with general lack of respect for all?????

I don't think so.

The original deal had a $50K buyout, now each time the dates were changed, don't know if this was - doubt it though.

We still need to keep this game on - we can beat the Gators in 2010.

Go BULLS !!!

Brad, the Future Schedules link shows the conference games at home with an "at" before them, making them look like away games.  Can that be tweaked?

Thanks!

Gentleman, we get to play certain teams based on money, UF or FSU will not travel to Tampa because it financially is not worth it to them.  They could play anyone at home and problably earn double.  Plus, the non-university attending fans in Gainsville have nothing else to do but go to those games.

You are really overestimating how many Gainesville natives who are not affiliated with UF attend these games.

I can see FSU coming to Tampa before UF will.  UF needs or wants as many home games as possible per year... they have not played an OOC game on the road other than Miami or FSU in almost 20 yrs.
