Blackmon Qualifies For NCAA Championships In High Jump

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (May 27, 2007) – University of South Florida junior Errol Blackmon qualified for his second consecutive spot in the NCAA Championships after a fifth-place finish and season best height of 6'11" in the high jump Saturday night in the NCAA East Regional.

With the top-five finishers in each individual event advancing on to Sacramento, Calif., on June 6-9 for the NCAA Track & Field Championships, Blackmon and Matt Parker of Liberty tied each other for fifth with an identical height of 6'11".  Blackmon went on to clinch the spot outright after a jump off and will return to the site of last year's Championships where he finished 14th in the nation in the high jump.

Other USF finishes included freshman Mikese Morse completing a long jump of 23'8.25" for 15th place overall.  Freshman Michael Kursteiner finished an impressive rookie campaign with no height in the high jump.
