Quevedo Pitches His Way To BIG EAST Honor Roll Award

QUEENS, N.Y. (May 22, 2007) – University of South Florida freshman right handed pitcher Matt Quevedo earned his first BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Award in the final week of the 2007 regular season, pitching his second-career complete game, and first shut out, against No. 22 Stetson on Tuesday, May 15.

Quevedo allowed three hits while striking out five and walking four in his fourth win of the season. Late in the mid-week game, Quevedo retired 18-straight batters to boost USF to a 5-0 victory. The native of Tampa, Fla., faced 33 batters in the 15th appearance of his freshman campaign.

Quevedo is 4-2 this season, with 11 starts and one shut out. In 63.2 innings, he has struck out 38 batters and held opponents to a .269 average. Quevedo owns a 4.38 ERA this year.
