USF Volleyball Brazilian Tour: Day One Blog By Mollie Echols

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (May, 19, 2007) - The USF Volleyball team is in Brazil. We have been preparing for this trip for a long time and it’s finally here. I am so excited and feel so lucky to be a part of this. We landed in the country hours ago but its dark outside and we’ve been in airports for way too long. All of the new sights include airplanes, airports and our tour guides.

The plane ride was smooth and everything was on time. I had a middle seat and sat with Brittany, Kristina and Stephanie. Nothing really eventful happened because we slept the majority of the flight. Occasionally one of us would wake up to snap beauty shots of Stephanie sleeping.

It’s weird not being able to talk to my family being here. During away matches I usually have five voicemails by the end of a game, but my father is a Bulls' athletic website guru and I’m sure he will stumble across this. So, mom and dad, I miss you, I love you, I got here in one piece and I haven’t lost anything yet. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to sleep tonight because tomorrow I’ll be seeing Rio and playing the junior national team.

Explain yourself...where should the money be spent that the volleyball team raised specifically for this trip?  Should it have gone to the track team for shoes?

If this trip nets some good contacts and future brazilian volleyball players it would pay for itself many times over. Volleyball in Brazil is BIG and they have many talented players

and many of our players come from Brazil already... so we know how to recruit Brazillian players.  This is a great opportunity to get USF in the minds of tons of top quality VB players.
