UM fans will change thier minds by 09 on this series, imo.  Even though we won't beat them unitl 09.

Why, you ask.

Because in 07 and 08, if we play to our potential, we will already have 2 more potential 9-11 win seasons, a possible BCS bowl under our belt (hopefully), and will be looked upon in an entirely different light by not only UM fans but the entire country.

IF we play up to our potential between now and then.

This is what we need to propell us to the top.  Now, UF and FSU will have to think we are not just an uguly step child anymore.

Bobby Bowden quoted in Trib today about FSU playing USF:  "Could it happen? Yes it could.  Some major programs are reluctant to play USF because they pull them up to their level.  But I can see where we will play USF someday."

Now this is much more entertaining than reading about whether or not Ms. Sterger pooped on our school or not.

This is awesome news but if I'm a Cane fan that I'm probably a little upset.  However, that emotion probably comes from evaluating the situation based on where the Two schools have been and where we are today.  By 2009, as someone else has said, We may have already validated ourselves by some excellent seasons and potentially a BCS birth (and win).  If that happens then all Miami is doing is playing a good instate rival and by then the whole idea of them "pulling us up" or validating our program in any other way will be moot.

In JimUSF's thread on the Miami board, some Canes like it...others don't.

I think just like with any series...regardless what some fans think about it originally, over time, most will probably enjoy a "road-game" series within the state of FLA.

As usual you have to lurk on our board- it is not about you. You should spend time on Tulsa board. You guys better schedule FAU before FIU does for that weekend or you will be shut out on the great Florida rivalry weekend.

As far as Cane fan goes I was one for 20 years and any real fan knows UM got where they are by playing everyone they could. They owe a lot to the big boys for scheduling them. They also should remember some of the series they had with teams that at the time of announcement did not look great but turned out to be National exposure (like this game will) San Diego St, Houston, and Washington(who ended the unbeaten run).

If a USF/UM annual game comes to pass, consider that in 2010 we would have to play both UF and UM away.  

I'd be real shocked if the second game with UF comes to pass.

I do agree with smazza about not playing against FSU until Bowden is gone.
