Softball’s Urbanik and Mosch Named Second Team All-Region

TAMPA, Fla. (May 17, 2007) – University of South Florida softball players Danielle Urbanik and Courtney Mosch have been selected to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I Southeast All-Region Second Team, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Urbanik earned the honor at the utility/non-pitcher position, splitting time at first base and as the designated player this season. The senior led the team with a .386 batting average, six home runs, 36 RBI, .583 slugging percentage and a .456 on-base percentage. A native of Riverview, Fla., she had a career year in 2007, setting personal bests in every category while earning First Team All-BIG EAST honors.

Mosch garnered her first all-region distinction at the utility/pitcher position, playing right field, third base and pitching. In the circle, Mosch finished third on the team with a 1.51 ERA and 71 strikeouts, and was fourth with two saves. The redshirt junior posted a 10-4 record and had a team-high four shutouts. Offensively, the Nazareth, Pa., native had the second best RBI total – 27 – and tied for second with seven doubles. On the season, she batted .268, with 34 hits and three home runs.

Urbanik and Mosch will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams on May 30.

Ecks got screwed... Didn't she lead the nation in ERA? I can only imagine the resentment that will build up in our ladies as the softball tourney plays out... Next year they will take the ranks by storm!
