Heath said today he intends to use one more in the next few weeks, then carry over the other so he has two for next season ...

Thanks for the info.

This next recruit would be a "grant-in-aid" or whatever it's called, right?

Guest BasketBull.

That sounds like a good plan. We still need some sort of sharp shooter to be competitive.

Rebuilding is the worst part about a coaching change.

Anything after today isn't a letter of intent, so yes, I'd say so ...

why isn't bozeman playing more?  He is one of our best shooters, right?  Is it because he is so small?

He is playing... he was splitting time with Howard at PG, and splitting time a SG too.

Both of them were only freshman.

I know, but I see everyone putting him on the bench and not on the starting line up.  Even if he is small, the boy can shoot!  What was it...83% FT percentage?

USF MEN’S BASKETBALL

BULLS ADD FRONT COURT DEPTH WITH SIGNING OF AJAYI

NIGERIA NATIVE JOINS USF FROM THE JUNIOR COLLEGE RANKS

Tampa, Fla. (May 16, 2007) –  The University of South Florida men’s basketball team has announced the signing of junior college standout Mobolaji Ajayi to a National Letter of Intent for the upcoming 2007-08 campaign, first-year head coach Stan Heath released Wednesday afternoon.

Ajayi, a 6-9, 225-pounder, will arrive on campus this summer and have two seasons of eligibility with the Bulls.

“Mobolaji adds both size and athleticism to our front line,” Heath said.  Ã¢â‚¬Å“He is a versatile player who can play either forward position, as well as center.”

The Kano, Nigeria, native competed for Palm Beach Community College in 2006-07, where he was a First Team All-Region VIII selection.  He helped the Panthers to an overall record of 17-15 in his lone campaign with the program, averaging 8.9 points and 7.5 rebounds (18th in the region) per game while shooting 54.9 percent (16th in the region) from the field.

Ajayi posted eight double-doubles on the year and was named the school’s male student-athlete of the year.

Ajayi began his career at Crichton College in Memphis, Tenn., which competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  He was named to the TranSouth Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team in 2005-06 after contributing 7.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.  He shot 47.2 percent from the floor and helped the team to an overall record of 18-12.

“Mobolaji is a strong rebounder and has the ability to defend multiple positions,” Heath said.  Ã¢â‚¬Å“He has also shown the ability to score around the basket and knock down a mid-range jumper.”

I see him being the #1 backup at both the SG and PG position at this point.  We don't have depth at PG, and he is a decent ball handler.  We need him at backup at PG at this point.  I wouldn't put him at starting SG because he can't be on the floor all 40 minutes, so if he is starting SG, he wouldn't be able to be backup PG.

I see him getting 10 minutes at each position give or take 4-5, each night.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
