Coach Lelo Prado To Host Baseball Day Camps In June and July

TAMPA, Fla. (April 11, 2007) – University of South Florida baseball coach Lelo Prado will offer day camps for youth ages 7-18 this summer at Red McEwen Field and also two camps in Brandon at South Brandon Little League.

The Bulls will host five separate summer camps for youth aged 7-12. The first day camp will be June 11-15, immediately followed by a session June 18-22, and the final camp will be July 9-13 before heading out to Brandon for July 16-20 and July 23-27. All of these camps will be in session from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and will cost $180 for the week.

June 25-28 the Bulls will hold a camp for 13-18 year olds that will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This camp will also cost $180 for the week.

“The purpose of Lelo Prado Baseball Camps are to give each player the best possible instruction and evaluation from our coaching staff,” said Coach Lelo Prado.

Camps are designed to stress fundamentals on all aspects of the game as well as strategy, drills and team concepts. Campers are divided by age and ability for group and individualized instruction and games. Academics, recruiting procedures and drug/alcohol awareness will also be discussed, and when available, qualified guest speakers will make appearances.

The camps will be facilitated by the USF baseball coaching staff as well as players from the Bulls team. Head coach Prado will be assisted by pitching coach Lazer Collazo, infield coach Bryant Ward, hitting coach Tino Martinez and Greg Parris.

and 10 years ago, 3 kids would have showed up.

Will be interesting to see how many kids show up for the baseball camp.  There have been different teams in attendance for some games this season, so I wonder if they'll get a strong push from the local little leagues.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
