Sorry, I've been away.  Bulls lose 4-1.  Need 1 win to clench spot in tourney.   Show up for St. Johns, folks, and support the team this weekend!

Wow, this game hurts our chances for that five seed.  Don't look now, but Villanova is coming on strong, and they own the tiebreaker over us.  Really a bad loss.

Bulls Drop Final Game Of Seton Hall Series, 4-1

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. (May 13, 2007) – The University of South Florida baseball team could not complete the three-game sweep of the Seton Hall Pirates, dropping Sunday's game 4-1 at Owen T. Carroll Field in New Jersey.

Junior pitcher Chris Delaney threw a complete 8.0 inning game, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out five and walking two.

Junior second baseman Dexter Butler picked up the Bulls' only RBI of the game while classmate Walter Diaz scored the run.

The Bulls were held scoreless through seven innings, until back-to-back hits from Diaz and Butler produced a run to draw the score within three, but USF couldn't produce any more runs, dropping the game 4-1.

In the top of the fifth, sophomore Addison Maruszak sent a single to left field, the Bulls' first hit and first base runner of the game, but USF was unable to tally a run. An inning later, sophomore Braulio Pardo's base hit to left center was USF's second hit and baserunner of the contest, but again the Bulls were unable to score.

With one out in the seventh, Diaz singled to the Pirate third baseman, then Butler doubled to left field, bringing Diaz around to score USF's first run of the game. Butler's double was his team-high 11th of the season and the RBI notched his 40th of the year.

The Bulls threatened to score in the eighth as freshman pinch hitter Ryan Soares sent a base hit to center field, but three fly balls ended the inning for USF.

USF returns to Red McEwen Field in Tampa for the remainder of the regular season as the Bulls host Stetson at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and St. John's Thursday-Saturday.

UL is beating ND again, 6-1 after five innings.  If ND loses again, they won't be able to pass us since we own the tiebreaker.  Villanova won game 2 of the series over G'town, and just started game 3.  Its this simple, if Nova wins we're tied with three games left.  We would have to outplay them over three games since they own the tiebreaker over us.  Nova plays Rutgers and we play St. John's.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
