Three of the Falcons' draft picks were handed starting spots. The most intriguing is fourth-round pick Stephen Nicholas from South Florida. He's set to start at weakside linebacker after Demorrio Williams suffered a torn pectoral while weightlifting and is expected to be out 3 to 5 months. Nicholas was a sideline-to-sideline linebacker for the Golden Bulls and made a bevy of plays in the backfield. His learning curve is going to be steep, but as long as he's playing fast and striking with force, defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer is set to live with his rookie miscues. . . .

well we used to have a group here called the Golden Belles, that would be like tour guides for athletes around campus (they joined up with S.T.A.R.S, which did the tours for the school)

Where do they get this crap from?  I graduated in 2003, but have attended USF events (summer camps, basketball game, etc) since 1986 and I don't think we have ever been known as the Golden Bulls.  Am I missing something?

Lazy reporting, it happens all the time when it comes to USF. I've seen mentions of "Southern Florida University", "campus is in Orlando", "lost first game ever 80-3", etc.

USF was known as the Golden Brahmans until the mid 80's.
