USF Assistant Hipsher Not Going To St. Louis

TAMPA - New University of South Florida assistant Dan Hipsher, targeted to join Rick Majerus' staff at St. Louis, has decided to remain with USF, while Chipola College AD Dale O'Daniel said he expects Chipola coach Greg Heier to join USF's staff.

Heier, the head coach at Chipola the past three years, was offered a position with USF last week, O'Daniel said.

"I have a gut feeling he's going to USF," O'Daniel said. "It's just a good deal for him."

Majerus and Hipsher have a long-standing relationship. In 2004 when Majerus accepted the Southern California job, he lined up Hipsher as an assistant, but a few days later Majerus backed out of the USC job for health reasons.

The St. Louis-Post Dispatch reported Tuesday that Hipsher was a leading candidate to join Majerus at SLU.

Also, USF recruit Kem Nweke, a 6-foot-10, 311-pound center from Fort Bend (Texas) Marshall High, arrived in Tampa on Thursday night for an official visit this weekend, said his coach, Gary Nichols.

not yet, but the AD of Chipola said he expects him to take the job at usf.

If he's good enough for Majerus, I think he'd be ok for us.

I've talked with people in athletics and I don't get any indication he is a bad guy... they are raving about how nice he is.  I don't understand why you are so against him... you must have your reasons bobcat, but until i have some reason personally to not like him, i'm happy to have him.  He's working hard already trying to get the missing pieces to the puzzle in there and the only negative thing i've heard is your post.

The Hipsher family is much like this one, except instead of "I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS" Dan Hipsher yells "I COACH DIVISION ONE BASKETBALL"
