For gender equity concerns USF could add Men's and Women'd Lacrosse and womens rowing.  That would cover gender equity but USF would not have the facilities for any of those sports and the cost of building them right now would be prohibitive.  USF is already building or planning to build a new soccer, softball, baseball, basketball practice facility, upgrading the Sun Dome and possibly building a football/track stadium.

I heard USFs club lacrosse team is pretty bad these days, also.

We would get crushed in the big east in lacrosse.

you think florida doesnt have enough basketball talent?

floridas best high school lacrosse team would lose to long islands, maryland, up state nys worst.

besides, lacrosse (prodominanty in the northeast) is a bunch of rich kids who go to ivy schools, not usf.  would be hard to recruit those kids to come here.

not a good idea, if we want to win, but sometimes i think some of our fans are just happy we field teams.  ex. crm era.

In some areas the best athletes play lacrosse instead of football...look at states like Maryland, New Yawk, Massachusetts, etc. they don't really have any strong football schools but if you check the rosters of most D1 teams you will see most of the players come from these hotbeds where kids grow up with a stick in their hands.

I don't know offhand how many scholarships a D1 lax school has, but I'd be willing to bet USF can't afford it and at the same time try to grow football and basketball. Since most of the D1-caliber players are in the northeast, it would only add to the cost of recruiting. Anyway, I think it would be a tough sell for a lot of these kids since Florida is way outside of the mainstream from a lacrosse standpoint.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
