Softball Clinches Berth To BIG EAST Tournament

TAMPA, Fla. (April 30, 2007) – Based on this weekend’s results, the University of South Florida softball team has clinched a spot in the eight-team BIG EAST Softball Championship held May 10-13 at the Belleville Softball Complex in South Bend, Ind.  

The trip to the 2007 championship marks the second-straight appearance for the Bulls, who joined their new league in 2005-06.  

USF (39-21, 11-5 BIG EAST) closed out the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record thanks to sweeps of Providence and Connecticut. The Bulls extended their winning streak to six games and have won eight of their last 10.  

Currently, the Bulls sit in a tie for second place with Louisville, which owns the tie breaker. Both USF and UofL have games left against St. John’s and Seton Hall this weekend and will be fighting for the No. 2 spot in the conference standings.

Can't wait to see Cristi pitch in the championship against the DePaul ace. That will be a game for the legends.
