Nicholas taken by Atlanta in 4th Round

I'm excited for him, as a Buc fan I cant stand the Falcons, but I'm happy for him. And I agree, I was pissed last night when the Bucs took that kid from New Mexico instead of Snake.

Looking at several different falcons message boards, some people are knocking the pick because they think Nicholas came from a "small school".  They knock the pick because he played at USF and know absolutely nothing about him.  Others with half a brain who know something about USF think it's a great pick and steal.

Reading some of the scouting reports, it sounds like Nicholas wouldn't really fit the Bucs' scheme. The LBs have to be able to play pass coverage and Nicholas is better at pursuit, run support, and rushing the passer. In a 3-4 defense like Atlanta's he can blitz off the edges and cause some trouble. In the 4-3, he'd have some problems.

And what did you want the Bucs to do? They already signed an OLB in free agency (Cato June) and they still have Brooks and Ryan Nece out there. Just because you want them to draft a USF player doesn't mean they're going to do it. It's like when Andre Hall wasn't drafted and everyone went berserk about "I hate the Bucs for not drafting him!" Well, they had Cadillac coming off his ROY season and Pittman was still backing him up.

Looks like it was a need pick after all for the Falcons.

Nicholas was made because starting weak side linebacker Demorrio Williams could miss all of training camp and preseason with a torn pectoral muscle injury that required surgery. Williams tore the muscle while lifting weights last week.

He's a good player, but he isn't "jesus in pads".  Talk about unrealistic expectations.  He's more likely to get 20 interceptions.
