I think we can all just agree that Alabama has a huge fan base.  This turnout was directly related to the Saban hiring.  110,000 is unheard of, but it is not normal even for Alabama and I'm betting next year's will be back in the neighborhood of 50,000.  Florida only got to around 45,000 (and they won the NC) so I don't think we'll be expecting 92,000 anytime soon at USF for a spring game.

MIA had 7,000

UCF had 600

and USF had 4,500.  So I think that's about what we can expect considering the youth of our program and the fact that we are a metropolitan university in the state of florida.

Trip it was just said on Around the Horn that it was estimate dthat 110,000 (Many were left outside) people showed up. Most those people are probably coming from Birmingham, Mobile, etc.

I am not saying it hs zero effect, I'm saying its a lame excuse by some of our fans as to why USF will probably never have that type of support.I really don't think people were saying. "Hey, we have nothing to do, lets go to the Spring game."

No it had everything to do with the fact that they love Alabama football, they are very committed, and planned to go to that game.

Wrong again, Joe, it's a very valid excuse that I believe has already been covered on this thread. When Alabama started playing football and through the vast majority of it's existence, it was the only game in town, allegorically speaking. People latched onto it and it became a way of life because there was close to nothing else going up there in the entertainment category. Alabamans love their college football and bring 100k to a scrimmage because, for generations, that's all they've had to latch on to. That will NEVER be the case with USF and there's no way you can argue against that.

The reason so many fans showed up trip.  Your telling me that Saban wasn't the complete reason for the sellout?

Read what Mike wrote.

Saban is a good coach though...I think that optimism spurred on a lot more folks to show up this year

I responded with.

I agree Mike, it's completely the reason

Either use the Quote button when responding or use sentences that completely convey your thoughts so I won't look the fool again ....
