If USF just keeps on winning then many teams will hate us. It is just the nature of the beast in where everyone hates a team that always wins.  I just recall a lot of Rutgers fans wanting to start a rivalry with USF after we got invited to the BIG EAST. Both programs have build up their football programs. Sure, Rutgers is ahead of us right now, but we are catching up pretty fast. And we need to beat them in baseball today or we are pretty much toast for that NCAA bid. Both basketball programs are down right now. The Rutgers' women basketball team destroyed us this past season.

Actually, If we do form a rivalry RU will probably be the first one.  Two teams that are close to each other in multiple sports.  Our football teams are almost even, MBB is almost even, WBB they killed us this year but we killed them last year, BB, ninth inning or later in the games this year.  Also we need to beat them to get to the NCAAs and they need to beat us to get to the NCAAs.  This is what builds rivalries, especially if it goes on for a few years.

I actually like the trip up to Rutgers as the location is great- cheap airfare and I have friends up there. I did notice 2 years ago how when the game got closer towards the end the Rutgers students started to spew more venom at the USF section.

I think with the easy travel for each teams fans as opposed to WVU and the fact that they recruit hard here if we keep flip flopping wins it will develop into a good series.

I'll take that rivalry.

They are killing us 6-0 in the top of the 2nd right now.

Oh actually, it's now the top of the third...it's been 6 up 6 down for USF.

At least in football, Rutgers is easy to start a rivalry with because their coach is so smarmy. Plus they come into your house and try and steal your recruits every year. It's like trying to get a girl to go out with you, and having to compete with the slick, smooth-talking guy who's full of BS but still gets girls to fall for it.

In my eyes it's a rivalry. I have my annual $100 bet with a good friend (rutgers alum) of mine every year. Hopefully, I'll be up $100 this year.
