Rutgers outhit us all night long.  No doubt about it.  It was 2-2 in the 7th, but then RU erupted for 3 runs that put us out of our misery................

Is Rutgers that good this year??  I didn't get to see the game but will be there tomorrow.  Let's hope we can win the next 2 to take the series.  How does are Saturday and Sunday starters match up?

In the bottom of the 6th, we had the bases filled with one out and whiffed twice.

In the top of the 7th, Otero got squeezed on a Ball 4 call for the lead run and then their No. 3 guy doubled to right.

And the home plate umpire tonight was just brutally awful. Both ways. The Ball 4 pitch from Otero had been a strike earlier.

ERA wise we match up well with the Rutgers starters, and for that matter our team ERA is about 1 run per game less than RU. The problem is RU hits about 13 points better than us. We were not only out hit tonight but we gave up 7 walks. The home plate umpire was all over the place on his strike zone. Otero was missing his spots more than usual but I could see him looking confused a few times. He has a back up pitch he throws inside to lefties at any point in the count. The umpire would call it a strike two times in a row, then not call it the next three times. This happened about four times during the game. Rutgers struggled with this also, but we were swinging at pitches early in the count and popping them up to the infield or short outfield.

The best thing about baseball is there's another game tomorrow. Go Bulls!
