Tebow was bigger than all of UF's running backs and Grothe was more elusive than most of USF's. Also if you're in the spread you don't have as many people to help block up front. So having the QB run the ball saves time that you don't have to use handing the ball off to someone on a draw. The linemen don't have to hold their blocks as long.

I don't completely buy what you are saying. IMO, Grothe has always played that style. He takes what the defense gives him and that sucks the LBs in trying to contain him from squirting out of the backfield. It's a good thing but not necessarily the result of bad line play or ineffective running backs.

I'm looking forward to having some good production out of our RBs this season to compliment Grothe's style.

First off, why are you so mad and who are you calling an idiot?  I could have swore we had a few running backs last year.  Not sure, i may have to double check that.  FRIGGIN Moron Box!  Sorry i didnt know usf won 10 national championships in a row, you are right, we have no room to improve or discuss other ways of running and passing the ball.

Jaime, are you male or female, i can definitely see you act like a little *****. If someone doesnt agree everything at usf is great, its ok buddy or sweetie, you dont have to defend everything, it makes you sound dumb.

trip - didnt ford want to go to alabama and didnt get in due to grades.  GRADES at ALABAMA!

ah, herman coming to the rescue of his boyfriend...how adorable.  now if THATS not acting like a little *****, i dont know what is.  ya gonna start fightin' people on a freaking web board?  i bet if i hit my spacebar EXTRA hard he'll feel it!!  geeeeeeeeeeeeek.

We will continue to get better and better players.  We may not attract a prototypical 6'4" 215 lb drop back, pocket passer.  Not because we can't, but because we really don't recruit players like that for our system.  We recruit players that fit our system.

With a QB like Grothe who uses a lot of different receivers, it gives a receiver a chance for not only playing time, but touches.  If the offense plays to their potential this year witha solid running game, a QB that can throw and run and receivers that hold on to the ball, this can be an exciting explosive offense that will attract the top players.

I am not really sure what a pro style offense has to do with attracting  top defensive players.  You have a grat defensive coaching staff that has already put several players into the NFL.  The athletes we have been recruiting are getting better  We are now on the map after this year we should be pretty well recognized.  That is what will attract the best players.

It's all coming together.

Have you had time to double check that yet?  If you have, perhaps you'd notice that we had injuries and a suspension.  Those factors led to Grothe taking most of the rushing snaps.  It wasn't the style of the offense, it was the player situation.

I'm always amazed by the selective memory on this board.

Gator offensive players do struggle at the next level in transformation. I agree with Smazza's post to an extent although the Gator's D will make up for no offensive selections until Day 2 in the draft.  WR's in this offense hardly get drafted high because of the ball being spread around.  RB's don't like the offense because they're as selfish as the WR's and not getting the ball 20-30 times a game kills their chance in being drafted.  So yes, an athlete wanting to make the next step to the Pro's might throw the Red Flag on this offense.  I can say my team before the Bull's was Auburn only because we didn't have a team and I despise the Gator's fans around here.  I've been a Bulls fan from Day 1 now and really think we can give Auburn a run and that win will be huge going forward.

At this point in our development we are not recruiting kids to be NFL players, w are recruitin kids to be a winning vcolege football TEAM.  There have abeen a lot of good TEAMS that haven't had a lot of players make it to the NFL.  It doesn't mean those kids weren't good college players.  How many Oklahoma QBs were good college players?  Charlie Ward?  Eric Crouch? Jason White?

Winning college football doesn't mean that players aren't good college players.  They may just not fit into the prototypical NFL style of play.  I think it's naive to think that the pro style of play is the only criteria to attract the best players.  The top level high school kids want to play at the level of competition.  We are getting there.  Winning will continue to attract the better athletes.
