I have never once in my life thought of UCF as our rival...

Many at UCF consider their largest out-of-conference rival to be the University of South Florida (USF) Bulls football team, a member of the Big East Conference. Both programs are rather new to Division I-A and are large state colleges in Florida. However, UCF has been unable to beat USF in any sport in recent times. It remains to be seen whether the current 4-game series between football teams will be continued after 2008. This is mostly due to the fact that USF Coach Jim Leavitt has expressed a desire to schedule more difficult out-of-conference games than UCF could provide.

you mean UM/FIU since they are located within 15 minutes of each other, and got in that huge fight this past season.

yeah, UM/FIU is what ucif fans wished they are to us.  if you saw the way the UM players were taunting the FIU fans, you can see how much they hate each other.

I was born and raised in Miami and grew up a Cane fan until I got saved, they have 1 true rival and that is FSU. they have played every year and can and have knocked each other out of the National championship picture. This is such a big rival that it was moved to a holiday game for national TV exposure. The players taunting the FIU fans is not knew they had bigger fights when the Canes went to SD. FIU is no where near beating UM and it is private so they do not even go after same students.

It seems to me that the mistake a lot of people make is seeing 1 school have no respect  for another school ie USF with UCiF and UM with FIU and thinking that is a rivalry. A true rivalry involves both teams winning at some point and hurting the other in the process- see USC vs. UCLA or Michigan and Ohio State last year.

If you counted everyone school the Canes have fought with or who they have taunted the fans of then they would be rivals to about 80 schools. Catholics vs Convicts ring a bell?
